Travelling From Abroad

The easiest way to reach Meganisi island from abroadis by taking a flight toPreveza Airport on the mainland.There are a number of year-round options for getting to Meganisi but the most direct is a charter flight (May to October) to Aktion Airport at Preveza from many major airports in the UK or mainland Europe.

Travelling via Lefkada Island

From Preveza airport, you can catch a coach or taxi or collect a hired car to reachLefkada islandfrom where you can eithertake a vehicle ferry or water taxi to Meganisi.If you wish to use a taxi, we can help you book a taxi in advance or you can find one at the airport.

Once you reach Lefkada, you have two options:

a) take asea taxi from Lefkada PorttoVathy village.The journey from Preveza Airport to Lefkada Port takes around 30 minutes. Google Map directions:

b) take either a vehicle ferry or sea taxi fromPort Nidri.The journey from Preveza Airport to Port Nidri takes around 40 minutes. Google Map directions:

By Bus: you can take a bus from Preveza airport to Lefkada town, and then take another bus from Lefkada town to Nydri port. The bus leaves Preveza airportevery hour. The journey fromPreveza airport to Port Nidritakes around 2 hours and costs approximately 10-15 euros.

Taking the ferry to Meganisi

From Port Nidri, you can take a vehicle ferry or water taxi to Meganisi island.The journey from Port Nidri to Meganisi is about5 nautical miles andtakes around 30 minutes by ferry or water taxi.

There is no ticket office or online booking facility, simply buy your ticket(s) once aboard the ferry.The ferry leaves several times a day and reaches Port Spilia. If your arrival time in Nidri doesn't coincide with a convenient ferry departure time or you'd prefer a quicker trip, we can arrange a speed water taxi to collect you and bring you to the island. The water taxicosts approximately €‎70.Please contact us for more information.

Arriving byferry to Meganisi

The ferry reachesPort Spilia located5 kilometres and approximately 10-15 minutes from Vathy village and8 Homes.

Alternatively, from Spilia port, you can take a bus or taxi to Vathyvillage. The bus takes around 15-20 minutes and costs approximately 2-3euros per person. A taxi takes around 10-15 minutes and costsapproximately €‎10 to€‎15.

Transport Options Inside Meganisi

Meganisi is a small island, and the best way to explore it is on foot or by bike. You can rent bikes or scooters in Vathy village. There is also a bus service that connects Vathy with the other villages on the island. The bus service is not very frequent, so make sure to check timetables locally.
